We Harvest What We Plant

Let us not become conceited, or provoke one another, or be jealous of one another. Dear brothers and sisters, if another believer is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path. And be careful not to fall into the same temptation yourself.  Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ.  If you think you are too important to help someone, you are only fooling yourself. You are not that important.  Pay careful attention to your own work, for then you will get the satisfaction of a job well done, and you won’t need to compare yourself to anyone else. For we are each responsible for our own conduct.  Those who are taught the word of God should provide for their teachers, sharing all good things with them.  Don’t be misled—you cannot mock the justice of God. You will  always  harvest what you plant.  Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature.

The Way

Jesus said to His disciples:  “Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in Me.  There is more than enough room in my Father’s home.  If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you?  When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me, where I am.  And you know the way to where I am going.”  (But, Thomas, being comfortable with Jesus and able to express his fears and doubts to his friend, said    to Jesus what the others were thinking) “No,  we  don’t know, Lord. We have no idea where you are going, so how can we know the way?”  (Jesus looking at Him with love and compassion, made it plain, so that we may all understand this law of nature… it’s like gravity; we don’t really understand how it works, but we know what it does.) Jesus told (Thomas), “I Am the Way, the Truth, and the Life.  No one can come to the Father except through Me.” John 14:1–6 (NLT)

Pressing toward the Goal

Philippians 3:12–21 (NLT): I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection.  But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me.  No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.  Let all who are spiritually mature agree on these things. If you disagree on some point, I believe God will make it plain to you.  But we must hold on to the progress we have already made.  Dear brothers and sisters, pattern your lives after (Paul’s), and learn from those who follow (his) example.  For… there are many whose conduct shows they are really enemies of the cross of Christ. They are headed for destruction. Their god is their appetite, they brag about shameful things, and they think only about th

Care for Men and Women in Federal Home Confinement   Since March 2020, thousands of federal prisoners have moved to home confinement under the CARES Act, providing safe accountability and slowing the spread of COVID-19 behind bars. Unless the President intervenes, these people will be sent back to prison -- even though they were carefully vetted and pose minimal threat to public safety.     Send a letter to President Biden asking his administration to take immediate action on behalf of this population!   Advocate for safe and appropriate accountability. Loneliness

Only God can fill the void of our loneliness. He created us in such a way that we have an emptiness, a hole that can only be filled by an intimate relationship with Him. Psalm 68:6 (NLT):  “God places the lonely in families;      He sets the prisoners free …and      He gives them joy. “

Contentment

How I praise the Lord that you are concerned about me again. I know you have always been concerned for me, but you didn’t have the chance to help me. Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned how to be content with whatever I have. I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little. For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength. Even so, you have done well to share with me in my present difficulty.   Philippians 4:10–14 (NLT)
