Truth is Absolute

Truth is Absolute

This is a personal observation...

Truth is not “relative.”

Truth is absolute.

People “perceive” truth differently; however, this does not change the absolute reality of the truth.

Can we know the absolute truth?

The answer to this question is that it depends...

In science, we can know the absolute truth of certain circumstances, if we are able to identify the value of all the variables in a given circumstance.

Yet, even this is a fleeting assurity; since any change in the circumstantial variables and their values can affect our ability to determine an absolute solution and know the result of a particular outcome.

In most other aspects of life, the truth becomes even more difficult to ascertain.

In the law, for example, truth is too dependent on perspective to ever be absolute.

While there is an absolute right and an absolute wrong, human beings are incapable of determining this distinction on their own... all the emotions and experiences of an individual’s life combine to bias the person’s perception of the truth - right and wrong are filtered through every person’s own individual lens of life and the world in which they live.

It is interesting to observe how a person’s view of other people’s actions is filtered through the lens of their own emotions, biases, and experiences - e.g. a person who is haughty, self-centered, narcissistic, proud, etc. will judge other’s actions as such, because it is what would have motivated them to take such actions.

This may not be the truth, but it is their perception; and in judging the other, it may create a false and biased view of the truth.

The only way to know what is absolutely right and absolutely wrong is to be God... or to let God’s Holy Spirit lead you to THE truth.

The truth is, of course, contained in the scriptures, which God has inspired men to write… over the millennia to record His Word.

However, men are flawed... and both the process of recording the Word of God and the process interpreting God’s words is necessarily flawed ...as well, the process of “selecting” what scriptures actually contain God’s Word is subject to human bias.

This is why each person must pray for faith and understanding and individually surrender to God in total humility and brokenness in order to invite God to open their hearts and minds and receive the Holy Spirit, who will show us THE Truth… who is of course, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

And God’s Word tells us in the Christian Bible in the book of…

Leviticus 19:15 (NLT)

“Do not pervert justice in legal matters by favoring the poor or being biased against the rich and powerful… Always judge people fairly.”

Praise be to God!
